Castlerock NS hurlers put up a gallant display on Sunday last, before going down to title holders Geevagh, in the Cumann na mBunscol indoor hurling final played in Collooney. Scores were level on a number of occasions, with the clock the deciding factor in the game. The final score was Geevagh 5 Castle rock 4. Well done to Niall Egan, Noel Gaughan, Eoin O’Donnell, Gary Gaughan and Darragh Jones, for their exciting and skilful performances on the day. Many thanks to their trainer Leo Gaughan, for the work put into the team.

The very best of luck is wished to senior player James Curley, who will be competing in the Sigerson Cup with Sligo IT this weekend.
A speedy recovery is wished to Eamonn O’Hara who received a serious head wound in the Sligo/Mayo match on Sunday last.
The ladies AGM was held on Sunday last. Team managers for 2001 are as follows: Under 12 and Under 14, Marie O’Hara and Una (B) Marren and Minor Austin Walshe and Marian O’Hara. Ladies officers remain as last year.
A meeting of all Bingo volunteers will be held on Thursday March 1, 2001 at 8:00pm in The Hillary Rooms, Banada Abbey Hall, to finalize a rota for the spring/summer months. Volunteers are welcome as some committee members have prior team commitments etc., for the coming months.
Weather permitting, Tourlestrane will be the venue for the National Hurling League match between Sligo and Longford on Sunday March 4, 2001 at 2:30pm.

The team face tough opposition from title holders, Geevagh, but there is a quiet optimism in the camp that an upset could be on the cards. The panel is Darragh Jones, Gary Gaughan, Alan Seery, Eoin O’Donnell, Ciaran Durkin, Noel Gaughan, Michael Meers, Dara Gilligan, Niall Egan, and Colm Mullarkey.

The club would like to extend get well wishes to Jim O’Hara, Tullinaglug who is recovering in Sligo General Hospital at present. Out and about once again, is Mick Egan, Castlerock after recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident late last year. Jim and Mick are two of the team’s most ardent supporters and we look forward to seeing both when the League campaign begins next month.
Training for the senior team continues on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 8:00pm.
A large number of players were in action for the county teams at the weekend. On Saturday, Con O’Meara, Gerry McGowan, David Durkin, and Eamonn O’Hara faced the tough Derry footballers while on Sunday, Adrian Gallagher, Jerome Quinn and Patrick Quinn lined out for the Sligo Hurlers. Anthony Collins, Peter Gallagher, and Enda Gallagher were among the subs.
Congratulations to Mrs. Phil Doyle, Curry, who was the lucky winner of the £1550 Bingo Jackpot on Tuesday evening last. Also on Tuesday evening last, a new Home Game was launched. Players receive a free sheet to fill out at home. There is a guaranteed £50 pay out with the possibility of £100. Extra sheets are available for £1.

The 2001 Indoor Hurling Parish League continues on Sunday evenings in Banada Abbey Hall. The last league fixture is Sunday February 11, 2001 when Sligo face Cork at 6:00pm and Offaly meet Galway at 6:30pm. The finals take place on Sunday February 18, 2001 at 6:00pm when the 2 top teams play.
Members of the club have been calling to supporters with our annual membership draw subscriptions. The up-take to date has been very positive and the club would like to thank all those who have supported the draw so far.
